Oxygen

Most patients require O2 supplementation. The target level for pO2 is about 60mmHg. Higher levels offer little advantage and increase the risk of hypercapnia. Patients whose condition deteriorates with O2 therapy (e.g, those with severe acidemia or CNS depression) require ventilatory assistance.1
