Oxygen

Most patients require O₂ supplementation. The target level for pO₂ is about 60mmHg. Higher levels offer little advantage and increase the risk of hypercapnia. Patients whose condition deteriorates with O₂ therapy (e.g, those with severe acidemia or CNS depression) require ventilatory assistance.1
