Oxygen
Most patients require oxygen supplementation. Supplemental oxygen should be titrated to improve the patient’s hypoxia with a target saturation of 88–92%. Patients whose condition deteriorates with oxygen therapy (e.g. those with severe acidaemia or CNS depression) require ventilatory assistance.
